Adventures in a Forest
The Raylius Experiment started in Williamsburg, Virginia when Raylius and some friends began experimenting with reel-to-reel sound on sound recording of electronic and montage music. After acquiring a few synthesizers, Raylius embarked on recording his first ambient electronic music album, Adventures in a Forest. He was just 21, freshly relocated to Los Angeles, and recording in a 4-track home studio, but he immediately struck upon a distinctive new style that was strongly influenced by the sounds of the natural environs of his old Virginia home.
All of the key elements of long tones, timbre transformations, and amorphous harmonic changes from overlapping instruments are central components of this seminal work. It is above all an album that evokes the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings of life in the woods, and an adventure into the mysteries abiding there.
Now available in this 30th anniversary remastered edition, Adventures in a Forest shines with a new sonic clarity that brings the music to life like never before.
